MISSION
To mobilize and empower our communities to stand up and take action. Together we will create lasting change for the racial and economic good of all people in our city.
Stand Up Nashville (SUN) addresses racial and economic inequality through strategic research, popular education and organizing. We inspire and empower our diverse base to build a stronger community that values the lives of Nashville’s people of color and working families. By organizing our communities, SUN fights poverty with strategic action around public investment and city planning to create thriving neighborhoods and shared prosperity.
We will tirelessly and courageously fight injustice and organize our community to take action.
We fight to shift power to make sure our city is prioritizing its people and our dignity.
VISION
To make Nashville an inspiring voice of the nation as the best city to live, work and grow; a true reflection of its citizens and a model of justice and equality.
We envision a Nashville where the common good is rooted in equity, dignity and the opportunity for all people to enjoy a better quality of life. Where the planning and development of our city reflects the priorities of people of color and the working class.
We want our home, our city of Nashville, to be held up as a model for how neighborhoods can thrive in racial and economic diversity with shared prosperity for all people.
We strive for transparency in our governments and leaders where the focus in on the people. Where power is in our hands, the people of Nashville, to make sure our city is prioritizing its people and our dignity.
