Cade Wooten

Organizer

Cade Wooten grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Asheville, North Carolina, before moving to Greensboro to attend Guilford College, where they studied Community & Justice Studies and Philosophy. During their time in university, they got very involved in local community organizing efforts, specifically fighting for housing and economic justice for working class people throughout the South. They got their start in the nonprofit space with Every Campus a Refuge (ECAR), an organization working to advocate for and support newly-arrived refugee families by leveraging the resources and facilities of college campuses. After graduation, Cade moved to Nashville, where they have been deepening their personal commitments to shared liberation and a revolutionary future for all. They are particularly passionate about economic justice, housing, public transit, and alternative economic governance models. Within their community, they strive to build a world that prioritizes communal wellbeing, love, and joy—a world in which everyone has their basic needs met, along with the freedom and leisure needed to become their best selves.

When Cade isn’t dreaming of liberatory futures, they enjoy reading, hiking, music, basketball, and adding to their ever-expanding earring collection. You can find them around town in the hills of Warner Park, looking at wildflowers along the Shelby Bottoms Greenway, or returning their overdue library books to one of Nashville’s wonderful public library branches.
